puppypalooza 2015

Here on the farm, our motto is, "If one puppy is good, three are better."

That's actually not our motto at all. But when we lost our Great Pyrenees Wally a few weeks ago, we were pretty convinced that a farm couldn't be a farm if there wasn't a dog the size of a small horse roaming around.

And so, on Saturday, we got little Petunia.

I say "little" in the sense that she is roughly the shape of a small barrel . . . as opposed to a large barrel. She is a full-blooded Great Pyr whose name was previously Cuddles, because she's pretty content, for instance, when you're taking her home, to curl up in a ball and fall asleep under your arm.

But one little chunker deserves another, so we also picked up two of our neighbor's puppies.

You know the ones, the ones that are the result of Wally's love tryst with the neighbor's lab

These are our hired guns: Winchester . . .

and Colt, because he is clearly a little pistol.

Their mama Molly must have really gotten around because Winchester is part Great Pyr, Colt is part Shar Pei (the neighbor's other dog) and their brother was part black lab (that would be a result of our dog Blackjack).

Are you following this messed up family tree?

We're not.

All we know right now is that we have 22 chickens, four dogs, lots of cows, two kittens on the way, a barn full of pigeons and our very own petting zoo.

So if you're in a bad mood, if work has you down, if your bills are piling up and you can't see your way out, if the gray skies and lack of sun are messing with your attitude, if the news makes you roll your eyes, if you're stressed out or if you just really like puppies, come on down to the farm.

We have all the puppies you can handle.

Oh.

And an exotic chicken . . . just for good measure.

  3. Adriane- not sure the best way to contact you, but we would LOVE to come visit the farm. Clarence is in love with all animals and Aaron would love to do some farm work. Any time we could make that happen this summer?

  4. Kezia, Pam and I were just talking about that a couple of days ago! Let's connect on FB and see if we can find a time in June or July when Clarence can get his fill of calves and puppies. :)

Now I have to see the chickens post....I want chickens. Totally allowed in the city, right?

    1. Word on the street is that most cities allow up to three "animal units," so you probably could have three chickens! Or you can just come smell ours and it would probably change your mind. :)
