corps of semi-discovery

Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery Expedition has nothing on these two brothers. Give them a keelboat, some maps and a body of water, and they're virtually unstoppable.

Scratch that. They actually had a row boat instead of a keelboat.

And maybe two dogs instead of maps.

But there was water! Even if it was only a couple of feet deep.

Also, is it just me or do they look related?

We interrupt this story to show off little G, who broke a champagne bottle over the bow of the ship, while still in her jammies, and christened it the USS . . . well, maybe she didn't go quite that far.

They shoved off around 8:45 a.m. and floated (read: attempted to commandeer a wayward row boat) down a creek traveling at the incredible speed of . . . roughly a mile per hour. Two hours later, they popped back out of the water, slightly wet, a little sore but still smiling.

Blackjack and Winchester swam along, taking breaks now and then to run along the bank of the creek. Finally, our discoverers pulled the two wheezy pups into the boat with them for a rest. But let's just say they were exhausted enough from their travels to sleep the remainder of the day.

While no elk, deer, bison or beavers were spotted or new rivers discovered, two farm boys did have a boat load of fun (see what I did there?), and that makes all the difference!

  1. Looks like a good day for making things right. Nothing beats the stimulus from being outdoors. Shirts come off, hats come off and the wind, sun, smells, looks all penetrate to the bone. Absorbing at that level is good for the body and mind.
